Week 2 #Oscarssowhite

“Shielded by colorblindness, whites can express resentment towards minority; criticize their morality, values, and work ethic; and even claim to be victims of “reverse racism.”” (Bonilla-Silva, Page 4)

I chose this picture because it is a perfect example of the historical relations between people of color and whites in the United States; especially when the picture states, “Look, if I got up here myself, why can’t you?” Its the classic example of color blind racism because as the picture explains there is a national understanding that racism is wrong, however instead of eliminating discrimination it has been shifted and hidden from the overt eye so that discrimination can indeed still continue in a justified and legal manner.
